Why We Worship
- In the year that King Uzziah
died, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne,
high and lifted up, and the train of His robe
filled the temple. Above it stood
seraphim; each one had six wings; with two he
covered his face, and with two he covered his
feet, and with two he flew. And one
called to another and said: "Holy,
holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole
earth is full of His glory!" And the
foundations of the thresholds shook at the
voice of him who called, and the house was
filled with smoke. (Isaiah :1-4)
- The reality of Isaiah 6 is
why we can't help but worship. Worship
at Dutchtown is much more than music. It
involves prayer, listening and responding to
the Word preached, giving, silence, and
lifting our voices to heaven.
Worship Not Performance
- Humans are made for worship.
ALL worship something or someone. We
desire to worship our Creator and Savior and
to spread his fame alone. Whether
expressed in song, service, or obedience, we
desire our worship to be genuine and to give
God His rightful place on the throne of our
lives.
Why We Pray
- We believe that prayer is a
vital part of worshipping our Savior and
knowing Him more. We want to be people
who are in communication with our God as we
drive, as we go to class, as we work, as we
spend time with family or friends. We do
this because we want to follow the example of
Jesus and because we believe that God listens
to, cares about, and responds to the prayers
of those who know Him.
