2008 News & Events

March 31, 2008

Dear Friends:

Plans are underway for our 2008 Builders for Christ mission trip.  This year we will be working on an Education Space / Fellowship Hall for Pilot Baptist Church in Eubank, Kentucky.  Pastor Derek Durham is excited about our coming and the work we will be doing.

The advance work crew will begin work at Pilot Baptist Church on Thursday, May 29 and work will continue through Friday, June 6.

On Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m., there will be a meeting at Faith Baptist Church on Highway 19 in Meridian, Mississippi.  This will be a supper meeting; so we ask everyone to bring their favorite dish(es) to share.  We will preview construction plans and go over logistics for the trip.

Accommodations during the week will be provided by Floyd Switch Baptist Church.  This is the church that we worked on in 2003 and is located on Highway 27 in Eubank, Kentucky approximately eleven miles north of Somerset.

Hotel accommodations are available at Country Inn in Somerset.  Arrangements can be made by calling them at 606-679-3711.

The cost for meals this year will be $15 per child between the ages of 5 and 12 and $45 per person for those older than 12.  Each church represented should assign one person from the church to collect money for meals and that one person give the money to Lois.  Please bring cash due to the difficulty of cashing out of town checks.

This year we are asking each participant to complete a Medical Form in case an emergency situation arises such as the situation we had last year.  Please give this form to the representative from your church. The completed form will then be given to the nurse that is working on site.

The children in Eubank, don’t get out of school until June 3, so we don’t know yet what kind of ministry we will be doing.  We are awaiting word from Bro. Derek about plans.  Those interested in helping with this ministry can contact Jennifer Heffron.

So that we can be prepared for the work to be done, please let us know your schedule, including needs for accommodations.  Each church should bring a list to the April meeting of those coming, when they will be there, and the accommodations needed.  Another option is that you can e-mail (dutchbc@eatel.net) or call Dutchtown Baptist Church at (225) 673-6612 and let Jo Ann Hullum know.

As we minister throughout the community, please remember that we are serving Christ and our dress needs to be appropriate.

We look forward to seeing you and doing the work that God has planned for us.

Plans are currently underway for our Mission Trip.  The trip is scheduled for May 31 - June 7.  While details are not yet available, Bro. Paul is planning a trip to Kentucky to meet with a group who have requested our help with their church construction.  This church is located in the area of Eubanks, Kentucky.

Information will be forwarded to you as soon as the details are available.  If you do not hear from us or are not on our mailing list, please email dutchbc@eatel.net for information.

Dear Christian Friends,

We feel so blessed that God sent you our way.  You have helped up to fulfill or vision to construct a building where we can provide Bible study classes.  Without your diligent efforts, that would not have been possible.  For this help we are so grateful.  A "thank you" seems to be inadequate, but it truly comes from our hearts.  Thank you so very much.

Our prayer is that this building will be to God's glory and that it will be a vehicle through which souls will be saved.  We hope also that Christian lives will be enriched through the activities that will be held in this building.  You will be a part of that growth.

It was  pleasure to get to know you.  You will not be forgotten.  Continue to pray for us as we pray for you.

In Christian Love,

    South Bossier Baptist Church

The Rev. Paul Harris
and All The Builders For Christ

Dear Paul and Crew:

We have been using our new building since Christmas, 2006, but still working on it.  Now, after many months of enumerable battles with the adversary, we have finally arrived at a point of completion in our construction where we are going to "officially" dedicate the facility to our Lord.  We are scheduled for October 11 - contingent on no further problems occurring.  We invite all of you to attend if you can.  We would like to know in advance if you will be with us os that we can be properly prepared.

We have scheduled the service for a Saturday so our are pastors will be able to attend yet still have time to do those last minutes preparations prior to their Sunday Worship.  Our plans are still fluid as we are unsure who will be able to attend.  At the present, we plant to start the service at 11:00 a.m., hopefully conclude the "dedication" portion by 12:30 or so, have lunch, (we are Baptist!) and then sing in the afternoon until everyone runs down or leaves.

It is a worn out phrase, but in this case so true, we could never have accomplished this without you.  You will not know the fullness of our gratitude until we reach the other side.  We continue praying for God to bless each of you, and that you will be able to continue in His work, being a blessing to others.  God reward you richly.

Hoping to see you again, face to face, on this side --

With gratitude and love,

        Keith Dennis
